Help Me Find Some Treasure!

Ok, so I am a bit of a collector. I love to collect things that are pretty to look at. Maybe that's why my jewellery making supplies grow daily. Anything that glitters or sparkles is always kept in my house incase I could use it for something later on. However, organising it is another matter!

I bought myself the cutest little curio cabinet to display my tiny treasures. However, after having the cabinet nearly a year I have barely managed to fill the little windows. Most of my treasure is too big. I do have some tiny wooden matryoshka dolls, a wooden handpainted duck, a lucky glass heart from my sister. A white and gold anchor disk (this was the first jewellery design I sold) and some rose petals from my wedding day.

But as you can see my little cupboard is mostly bare. Which is where I am hoping, you, my reader's could help! If you have a small piece of treasure (it could be anything as long as it is lovely to look at) that you are happy to part with then please take part in my curio swap! For every piece of treasure I receive, I will send the donator a free gift from Made By Me With Love.

Maybe you could draw a small illustration, or sew a cute little something, perhaps you are great with polymer clay and could make me a kitschy creation that can be framed on my shelf. I will mention all donators in our blog and facebook with a photograph of the item so perfect if you are a designer of anything cute!

All you have to do is send your treasure to Made By Me With Love, 13 Church Street, Wiveliscombe, TA4 2LR. Include a little note with your own address and a little bit of info about your treasure. All donations will be sent a free gift to the address provided

I just have to have...

Not being totally conventional, I am always on the look out for unique and amazingly creative bits and pieces to fill my home.

Here are some of my favourite finds from this week's hunting!

Top of the list has to be this fabulous wallpaper from Land of Nod

I dreampt of this kind of stuff as a child! This is definitely on my list of things to buy for my little boy's room

For myself, I absolutely adore these tiles! These are a total must for a little wash room or a country cottage kitchen. I love them so much I want a whole wall full of them - oh just imagine!

Finally these furniture designers have produced some mindblowing pieces. They are completely out of this world. I would quite happily have any of their masterpieces in my house. This one is one of my favorites

New Designs

It has been a hive of activity here at Made By Me With Love since we last wrote. In between getting married and getting a nasty bug we have been super busy designing some gorgeous new ranges.

We are excited to be back out in the shed, rubber gloved, fully masked and hands deep in liquid plastic. We have created some great new moulds to make some utterly fabulous new items. Its not the easiest of processes but its well worth the effort when you pop the little beauties out and see what you have created!

Nothing pleases us more than to get stuck into new designs. Especially when you have images in your head of what you want something to look like and the finished product is far better than your original ideas.

Here are some sneak peeks of what was born yesterday in Made By Me With Love's workshop. Our new creations will be available to purchase here very soon

Thrifty Finds

This week saw a new addition to my workshop. My very own little sewing machine table. I have needed a part of the workshop set up for just sewing for ages now but have not found the right kind of table anywhere. It's not that I'm fussy, its more of a space issue! The workshop is filled with desk space for making, creating and designing, an area for all my supplies, an area set aside for made up creations, a photographing space, an admin and computer area and a wrapping and packing space. This does not leave too much room for my sewing machine, bags of fabric and all my stitching kit!

So when my husband to be arrived home after an afternoon thrift shopping, I was so excited with his find! A vintage mangle hiding under an absolutely perfect sized enamel table top.

It is just what I needed, a sturdy little table that looks super retro too and only a tenner too! I am in love with my new uncluttered sewing space. So much so, I set to work making up some gorgeous new fabric hair accessories. I have a few more designs to make so will have them available in the shop by the end of the week!

Until then, here's a sneak peek at 1 of them.

Beautiful Bows!

I absolutely adore bows. No matter what the shape or style, I am a sucker for a bow. That's probably why I include them in so many of my designs.

I spent an afternoon bow making the other day. The intention was to add to my range of ditsy fabric bow hair slides but after churning out a few on the sewing machine. I came up with such an adorable idea. Why not turn my fabric bow fancies into oversized rings.

I am so pleased with them. I am wearing one now as I type. They are so summery and look fab with a gorgeous ditsy summer dress and cardigan.

You can get your hands on these at Made By Me With Love on ebay and they will be on the website very soon. I have loads more styles to be made up over the next couple of days.

Workshop Detox

It's official Made By Me With Love must have had the worst maintained blog in the world. Well, its time to turn that around. I can't promise daily updates but I am certainly going to try and add a weekly summary of all things Made By Me With Love!
This week I have had a major workshop sort out. I found so many bits I forgot I had and some I don't even remember buying! Its always nice to come across treasures that can be used to make new designs. However, I have so much stuff now it would be impossible to use it all so I have started a new ebay store purely for my surplus jewellery making items. I will update this shop when I can, with new items and findings. If you make you own jewellery and want to get your hands on some kookie little bits, vintage goodies and kitschy treats as well as some staple findings then check out Beads&Bows on ebay.

Lots of people ask me where I get my components and charms from. The answer is I collect! I have always been a collector. It started when I was little. I couldn't bear to throw anything away incase I could use it for something else. I often use bits I kept from my childhood in my vintage cha cha bracelets. Broken jewellery bags from charity shops are perfect for building up your supply box and sometimes highstreet shops sell of their broken bits at reasonable prices. However, I have found the best way to build up your stash is to invest in a drill. As long as you have a drill anything can be turned in to a bead or a charm!

As well as having a workshop detox, I have been a busy bee making some truly gorgeous cha cha bracelets. Made By Me With Love's cha cha bracelets are one of a kind bracelets crammed with new and vintage bits of treasure. They may sometimes have the same theme but no two bracelets are the same. I love making them so much and wish I could keep them all, they are just so lovely to look at and fiddle with on your wrist.

Here are some pictures of my new cha cha's available to buy here
